This three-day workshop outlines the specific tools and materials you need to be comfortable painting en plein air. We will then paint various views in Bangor. Exercises will involve composition, working with a limited pallet, mixing paint, painting wet on wet, and the interplay of color, light, and form. * A supply list and class outline will be mailed to registered students. $90 per session, $75 per person for individuals signing up with a group of three or more participants. This one-day workshop focuses on techniques and principles of plein air painting. On the coast of Maine, we will emphasize composition, the effect of light, mixing color, application of paint, and expression in representation of form and tone. * A supply list and class outline will be mailed to registered students. $75 per session, $60 per session for individuals signing up with a group of three or more participants. In three workshops we will investigate various techniques of collage, watercolor painting, and mosaic design. We will emphasize composition, use of tools, imagination, and depiction from life. We will share our thoughts about developing the artist's eye and self-expression. For children ages 8-11 Morning and afternoon classes will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, from 9-12 or 1:30-4:30pm. $90 for either morning or afternoon sessions. $75 per session for individuals signing up with a group of three or more participants. Week 1 - July 28th-30th Penobscot River Photography Collage Photograph the river and turn your images into a textural, collage of nature. We will think about line, form, and pattern as we piece together a masterpiece. Week 2 - August 11th-13th The Wonderful World of Watercolor Learn the fundamentals of watercolor painting in the summer sun and fresh air! We will draw from selected views, learning composition placement, and how to select and mix color to record the world around us. Week 3 - August 18th-20th Summer Garden Tiles Embark on a scavenger hunt for found objects in the downtown area. We will design and lay out our custom tile by sketching plans and using our found objects. Pour cement and set your design into stone!
